Miss Myanmar Moe Set Wine will enter Miss Universe Pageant 2013 in Moscow, Russia scheduled for next month.

Wine will be the first contestant representing  Myanmar for Miss Universe Pageant after a break for over five decades.

Graduated from an American university, the 25-year-old Wine was chosen from 20 hopefuls emerged from a series of locally held beauty contests.

Other contestants representing the country have participated in Miss International, Miss Earth and Miss Supernational pageants this year.

Miss Universe 2013 , the 62nd Miss Universe pageant, will take place on Nov. 9, 2013 at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow.

Olivia Culpo, Miss Universe 2012 from the United States will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Through Miss Myanmar pageants, Myanmar women who keep abreast of their global counterparts in terms of talents and knowledge have now emerged all the more.

"I will try to learn as much as I can in order to bring new experiences to the country. I hope to let the world know our country Myanmar well," Wine said.

"I am so delighted to compete in such event," she said, adding that "I am trying my best to enhance my country's dignity".

Winners of Miss Myanmar are simply not a woman of great beauty. She must be elegant, talented, active, astute and shrewd, official media commented.

To uplift the dignity of Myanmar women, miss winners must be role models of others and those who pay attention to their healthy life, seek knowledge to widen their horizons and try to be active and lively, said Wednesday's editorial of the New Light of Myanmar.

Globally, Miss winners are chosen by agencies of their respective countries and sent to international pageants such as Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, etc. to represent their countries as contestants.

Myanmar former beauty queen Than Than Aye was the first representative of Myanmar to participate in Miss Universe beauty pageant in 1959, followed by Myint Myint May in 1960 and Myint Myint Khin in 1961.

Meanwhile, Myanmar beauty queen Khin Lapyae Zaw won Miss Personality award in Miss Tourism Queen International while Khin Wint Wah was crowned the title of Miss Supranational Myanmar 2013 and Nan Khin Zayar grabbed People's Choice Award and Miss Internet Award at the Miss International Beauty Pageant 2012.
