The European Union has unveiled plans to focus on rural development, education, governance and support for peace building in its multi-million euros aid cooperation program with Myanmar in the coming years.
Several MPs have commented that Parliament has not yet decided whether or not to accept a USD $155 million loan from South Korea, which was offered with the intention of providing aid to Myanmar’s communications and energy sectors. Representatives from the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, along with associated MPs, continued to debate this issueat a Parliament meeting on 12 November.
The East Japan Railway Company has vowed to help promote the development of Myanmar railway management and transport by sharing technical knowledge with Myanmar's State Railways, official media reported Tuesday.
South Korea will help Myanmar with rural areas development in the country, official media reported Sunday.
President U Thein Sein sent a formal message to parliament on 7 November asking its permission to apply a USD $60 million loan from Asian Development Bank towards the construction of three hundred power plants across Myanmar. Parliament was quick to approve this request.
